New York AI SEO Agency for AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity Answers

On October 2, 2026, Google's AI Overview for this search in New York cited no web page at all. It was built from three Business Profile cards and compared them by rating and closing time. That is the market this page describes: Portland Peak SEO as a New York AI SEO agency for businesses from Manhattan to Buffalo, working from Lake Oswego, OR, at published prices of $450, $950 and $2,500 a month, with the county figures, the cost comparison and the limits laid out below.

THE SHORT ANSWER

What does a New York AI SEO agency do?

A New York AI SEO agency is a firm whose job is to get a New York business named and linked when someone asks Google’s AI Overview, ChatGPT or Perplexity a question the business answers. Portland Peak SEO does that for New York businesses from Lake Oswego, OR, at published prices of $450, $950 and $2,500 a month.

New York makes the definition matter more than most places, because the local pack for this search mixed an AI automation agency in with two SEO firms, and Google's overview treated all three as interchangeable. An AI SEO agency is still an SEO firm. Its difference is the thing it measures: not only where a page sits in a list of links, but whether an AI-written answer names the business, links to it, and sends a reader who then calls. Portland Peak SEO does not sell automation, chatbots or software; it sells that measured visibility, and the founder does the work.

The firm's New York SEO company page covers classic search statewide, including what a campaign costs month to month and how the New York map should be read. This page does not repeat that. It reports one dated capture of the AI answer, the county-level supply of agencies from public files, and what a New York business should do with both, and the hub links here for the AI layer.

Anyone new to the vocabulary can read what AI SEO is first. The rest of this page assumes the reader runs or markets a New York business and wants to know what Google is doing with this query, what the work costs, and what an Oregon firm can and cannot do from the other side of the country.

WHAT GOOGLE SHOWED ON OCTOBER 2, 2026

What did Google's AI Overview show for this search in October 2026?

On October 2, 2026, a desktop search for ai seo agency new york, geolocated to New York, produced a 621-character AI Overview built from three Business Profile cards and nothing else: it cited no web page, compared the three firms’ hours and ratings, and offered to schedule a consultation. The first organic result underneath was a Linktree profile.

DataForSEO's live Google endpoint made the capture for a desktop searcher located in New York State, with the overview fully expanded. It ran to 621 characters, and every link inside it pointed back into Google's own listing viewer, not to a website. It recommended the firm on Flatbush Avenue for its rating and accessibility, observed that the other two close earlier in the evening, and offered to compare packages. Under it came two ads, the three-card local pack, a discussions and forums block, seven organic results and four People Also Ask questions, each of which has a heading of its own below.

The table is the finding. Not one organic result is a New York agency's own page about AI SEO. Position one is a link-in-bio page. Two are lists of AI or LLM SEO agencies published on agency websites. Two are ordinary New York City SEO company pages that happen to be indexed for the phrase. One is a LinkedIn post. The seventh is a blog list, and it contains the only monthly figure on page one, which is a warning rather than a price. Six of the seven were readable, and none of the six carries FAQ schema, rating schema or a visible author beyond the LinkedIn author.

Read together with the overview, this says the New York result is decided above the organic results, by Business Profile data, and that the organic positions underneath are held by pages that were never written for the query. Both are openings, and the second one is unusual for a market this large. Every file behind this reading, the raw response, the parsed result and the teardown of seven pages, is stored with the page's research. New captures follow monthly from New York City and from each client's own city; one draw is an observation with a date, nothing more.

NEW YORK BY THE NUMBERS

Where are New York's marketing buyers and agencies concentrated?

New York had 19,867,248 residents on July 1, 2024, and 10,679 marketing-services establishments in 2024: 6,024 in advertising and public relations, 4,655 in marketing consulting. Manhattan alone holds 3,692 of them, 2.22 per 1,000 residents, while the Bronx, with 1,384,724 residents, holds 81, or 0.06 per 1,000.

The county rows join two public datasets. Population is the Census Bureau's Vintage 2024 population estimates. Firms are Bureau of Labor Statistics QCEW counts, private ownership, 2024 annual averages, from the New York state file and one file per county, all pulled on October 2, 2026. The two industry columns are advertising, public relations and related services, code 5418, and marketing consulting, code 541613; the right-hand column is their sum per 1,000 residents.

Manhattan is a different market from the rest of the state, and the files say so without adjectives. It holds 3,692 of New York's 10,679 marketing-services establishments, about one in three, and 60,969 of the state's 78,219 advertising and public relations employees. Its density of 2.22 establishments per 1,000 residents is about 38 times the Bronx's 0.06 and four times Brooklyn's 0.51, with the Bronx and Queens below the national rate of 0.51 and far below the state's own 0.54. Agency supply in New York is not spread across the city; it is one borough.

Population is moving the other way. Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx together had 265,333 fewer residents in 2024 than in 2020, while Suffolk, Nassau and Westchester gained 20,546 between them, and the state as a whole had 237,923 fewer. The 55 counties outside the seven in the table hold 1,756 establishments between them, and BLS assigns another 1,697 to no county at all. A business in Queens, the Bronx, Long Island or anywhere upstate is asking an answer engine a question that has very few local candidates, and most of the candidates it does have are directories.

That is the brief in two sentences. A Manhattan page competes against the densest agency field in the country and has to carry what that field withholds, which on October 2, 2026 was a price, a named person and a verifiable number. A page for Flushing, Riverdale, Hempstead, Yonkers, Buffalo or Rochester wins more by naming the borough or county in its first two sentences than by anything else on it.

THREE THINGS PAGE ONE DID NOT SAY

What does this page add that the ranking pages do not?

Three facts on this page are on none of the seven pages Google ranked on October 2, 2026. New York runs 0.54 marketing-services establishments per 1,000 residents, above the national 0.51, and Manhattan’s density is about 38 times the Bronx’s. The overview cited nothing at all. Zero of six readable page-one pages publish a monthly price.

One borough, derived from eight files

3,692 of 10,679 establishments and 60,969 of 78,219 advertising and PR employees sit in Manhattan. The density figures, 2.22 per 1,000 against 0.06 in the Bronx and 0.18 in Queens, come from dividing county establishment counts by county population. No page on October 2, 2026 put New York's agency supply on a per-resident, per-borough basis.

An overview with no citations, observed

The 621-character overview named three firms from their listing cards, compared them by rating and by closing hours, and linked to nothing outside Google. None of the seven ranking pages reported what the overview above them actually contained, and none is a New York AI SEO agency page.

Price silence, counted

Six readable page-one pages, zero published monthly prices, zero FAQ schema, zero rating schema. The only dollar figure is a warning. Portland Peak SEO publishes $450, $950 and $2,500 a month, so a New York buyer has at least one number to compare against the next quote.

Arithmetic and source files for all three sit in the research record behind this page. Anything that could not be traced that way stayed off the page, and the limits section names what was left out.

COST

How much does SEO cost in New York, and what does an AI SEO agency charge?

Portland Peak SEO charges a New York business $450, $950 or $2,500 a month, published, month to month, and the same in Manhattan as in Buffalo. On October 2, 2026, none of the six readable page-one results published a monthly price; the only figure was a warning that prices under $1,000 a month signal limited scope.

PlanPriceWhat it carriesWho it fits in New York
Local$450 a monthThe Profile and the service pages made to agree, hours and categories included, with each page answering in its first 60 wordsOne location in Queens, the Bronx, Long Island, Westchester or upstate
Growth$950 a monthLocal, plus the fetch test, schema and entity work, and the monthly overview capture for the client's phrasesA practice or firm competing in Manhattan or Brooklyn
Authority$2,500 a monthGrowth, plus every tracked surface, Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Copilot, with captures per borough or metro and a monthly written reviewSeveral locations, or one business working the whole state

Scope and exclusions are on the pricing page, and the AI-specific breakdown is on the AI SEO pricing page. There is no Manhattan premium. The page that names Westchester County is built, captured and reviewed exactly as the page that names Multnomah County, Oregon, and the cost of doing that does not change with the client's rent.

The People Also Ask box wanted to know how much SEO costs in New York, and page one did not say. The one monthly figure on any of the seven results was the observation that prices under $1,000 a month often mean limited scope, which is a reasonable warning and not a price. Portland Peak SEO's lowest plan sits under that line on purpose: it is a limited scope, it says what the scope is, and a business in the Bronx with one location does not need the Manhattan scope to be the only local page that answers its question.

Paying any of the three prices buys work and a dated account of it. No citation, ranking, review count or map position is guaranteed, since Google, OpenAI and Perplexity decide those. The founder answers (971) 280-2861.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

What is included when Portland Peak SEO runs AI SEO for a New York business?

Portland Peak SEO’s New York AI SEO work comes in 5 pieces, done in order: a crawler check, one set of business facts with hours included, service pages that answer in their first 60 words and name the borough or county, schema that restates only the page, and a monthly capture of the answers from New York City.

  1. Crawler check. Googlebot, OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot each request the home page and every service page, and the responses are recorded. Google's AI features documentation asks for nothing extra to appear in AI Overviews, while OpenAI's bot documentation and Perplexity's crawler page each name a crawler a site has to admit. A firewall's bot protection can turn them away without anyone having decided to.
  2. Hours and facts. The New York overview compared three firms by when they close, so hours count as content here. Address, phone, categories, services and hours are made to read the same on the website, the Business Profile and the main listings, then rechecked every month, because a single edit to the Profile is enough to make the two disagree.
  3. Opening answers. A Flushing dental implant page begins with the practice, the procedure, Flushing and Queens, and one number a patient can verify, in 40 to 60 words that still read correctly when an engine lifts them out. Every heading after that is a question answered in its first sentence.
  4. Schema. Google's AI optimization guide says structured data is not required for generative AI search, so it is used only to restate what the page already says about the business, service, area, prices and questions. Rating markup is never added.
  5. Monthly capture. The overview for each tracked phrase is pulled from New York City and from the client's own borough or city before any change and every month after, with Search Console, ChatGPT referrals, Bing's AI report and Profile calls alongside.

Some things are not sold at any price: an llms.txt file pitched as a Google ranking factor, when Google's guide says Search ignores those files; rating markup; paid directory placement; a Manhattan suite address to fake a local presence.

MEASUREMENT

How is AI visibility measured for a New York business?

New York results are judged on 5 readings taken before the first change and monthly after, from New York City and from the client’s borough or city: the AI Overview per tracked phrase, Search Console rows, ChatGPT-tagged visits, Bing’s AI performance view and Business Profile calls. Every line carries a tool, a date and a place.

Two vantage points are captured because a New York answer depends on where the question is asked. An overview requested from Manhattan and one requested from Buffalo are separate draws from a system that localizes and varies per request, and a report built on one of them shows half the picture.

Portland Peak SEO starts from zero here. On October 2, 2026 the New York overview cited no website at all, none of the seven organic results belonged to the firm, and this page is the first it has written for the phrase. Whatever next month's capture shows will be reported with its date, movement or not.

A call that follows an overview never registers as a click, because the reader got the name, rating and closing time without visiting anything. Calls, brand searches and Profile actions therefore sit next to the click counts in every report.

THE QUESTIONS PEOPLE ALSO ASK

Who is the best SEO expert in New York, and what is the top SEO company in New York City?

No single best SEO expert or top SEO company in New York can be verified, because the three ranking lists on page one for this search were each published by an agency, not by an independent body. On October 2, 2026, Google’s own answer was three Business Profile cards compared by rating and closing hours.

Two of the four People Also Ask questions for this search want a name, and the honest reply is that the name depends on who compiled the list. The three lists on page one were written by agencies. The overview's three names came from Google's listing data and were ranked by star rating and by which firm was still open latest. None of those is an independent measurement of who does the best work, and a New York buyer who picks from them is picking from a directory, a competitor's blog, or a comparison of opening hours.

A better test is available to anyone with a browser. Ask the candidate firm for the starting number behind every growth figure, the date and location behind every citation screenshot, and a client count that matches the one on its own website. Then look at whether the firm publishes a price, names the people who do the work, and lets the client keep every account. Portland Peak SEO is not claiming the title; it is publishing the test and passing it on this page, which a reader can confirm before confirming it anywhere else.

AN OPEN SEAT

Is SEO still worth it in New York when the AI Overview cites nothing?

Yes, because an AI Overview that cites nothing is an open seat: Google’s AI features documentation, last updated December 10, 2025, states there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, and the links they show come from the ordinary index. An indexed New York page that answers first is eligible.

Google's guide to generative AI search says the work is still SEO, and the New York capture is a clean illustration of why that is good news rather than bad. An overview that links to nothing has not chosen a winner among New York's websites; it has defaulted to listing data because no indexed page answered the question well enough to be lifted. The pages that ranked underneath were not written for the query either. In a market with 10,679 marketing establishments, the AI answer for this phrase has, as of October 2, 2026, no incumbent.

What fills an empty seat is the same thing that filled the first organic position before overviews existed: an indexed page that answers in its opening sentences, a Business Profile that says exactly what the page says, and facts that hold when an engine checks them against every listing. The difference in 2026 is that the Profile is weighed at least as heavily as the page, which the closing-hours comparison in the overview makes plain. Both are done together or neither works.

THREE HOURS BEHIND, ON YOUR SCHEDULE

Can an agency in Lake Oswego, Oregon serve a New York business?

Serving a New York business from Lake Oswego, Oregon works because the deliverables are pages, settings, captures and reports, and because the founder keeps New York hours: 9 a.m. in Brooklyn is 6 a.m. in Oregon. Portland Peak SEO, founded in 2015, has no New York office, Business Profile or client result to point to.

Every account stays the client's. The website, Search Console, Business Profile and analytics are shared with Portland Peak SEO as a user and never transferred, so ending the work means removing one user, not recovering four accounts.

Distance costs exactly one thing, the map pack. Google ranks a Profile locally only from a real address where customers are served, and Portland Peak SEO will not lease a Manhattan suite number to manufacture one, so it does not appear in New York packs. The client's Profile does, and that Profile, hours included, is what the work tightens.

The two people on every account are named in this page's schema and on the about page: Andreas Benavente, who founded the firm in 2015, has run it for the eleven years since and maintains this page, and Thomas Johnston, marketing manager. An audit request from New York gets a written reply within 48 hours, as it would from anywhere. No New York team, partner or address exists, and none is implied.

HONEST LIMITS

What can no AI SEO agency in New York promise?

Three things sit outside any New York AI SEO agency’s control: what Google’s overview says, whether ChatGPT names a firm, and map pack order. On October 2, 2026, Google built its New York answer from three Business Profile cards and linked no website, so no agency page decided it. Portland Peak SEO controls the work and dates it.

This page deliberately carries no star badge, because a small Oregon review base says nothing about New York work. It carries no case study, because the firm's verified record holds no New York result yet. It carries no ranking total, because the export behind one is not attached. And it says nothing about the three firms Google named beyond what Google's own overview said.

A New York reader can check all of the rest in an afternoon: run the search from New York, open the state and county files linked above, compare the prices with the pricing page and with this page's schema, and read the about page. A promise about next quarter is the one thing nobody could check, which is why there are none.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Frequently asked questions about a New York AI SEO agency

Does a Manhattan business need a different approach than one in Buffalo or Rochester?

Yes. Manhattan has 3,692 marketing-services establishments, 2.22 per 1,000 residents, the densest field of agency-built answer pages in the country, so a Manhattan page needs what those pages withhold: a published price, a named person and a number a reader can check. The 55 counties outside the seven largest hold 1,756 establishments between them, so in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse or Albany a page that names the county and city in its first two sentences often has no local rival for the same answer.

What is an AI SEO agency, in one paragraph?

An AI SEO agency is an SEO firm whose measured outcome is appearances in AI-written answers, in Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT search, Perplexity and Copilot, rather than only positions in a list of links. It is not an AI agency; one of the three firms in the October 2, 2026 New York overview was an AI automation business, which shows how loosely Google’s cards match the query. A buyer should ask which answer engines are tracked, how, and from which location.

What should a New York business do first?

Fix the Google Business Profile before writing anything, because the New York overview on October 2, 2026 was built from three Profile cards alone and compared them by rating and by closing hours, so incomplete hours cost a firm the comparison. Publish a monthly price next, because none of the six readable page-one pages does. Then put the borough or county into the first two sentences of each service page, and only after that build a page around the phrase AI SEO.

How long before a New York business sees an AI citation?

Expect an order of events, not a date. A robots.txt fix reaches OpenAI’s search crawler in about 24 hours, by OpenAI’s own account. Profile, hours and page changes settle over the first two months. Whether Google’s overview or ChatGPT starts naming the business is judged between 90 and 180 days, against the capture made before any work began, and the result is reported even if nothing moved.

If a New York business blocks AI training, does it vanish from AI answers?

No, provided it blocks the right crawlers. GPTBot and Google-Extended govern whether pages are used to train AI models, and Google says Google-Extended does not affect Search. OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and Googlebot are the ones that fetch pages for answers, and OpenAI states that sites blocking OAI-SearchBot are left out of ChatGPT search. Block the first two if training is the concern, and keep the last three open if citations matter.

Does Portland Peak SEO have an office or Business Profile in New York?

No. One office and one Business Profile, both in Lake Oswego, OR. A Manhattan virtual office would buy a listing Google can remove, since a Profile must represent a place where the business actually serves customers, and the reviews on a removed listing go with it. For a New York client the Profile that matters is the client’s own, which Portland Peak SEO edits through access the client grants and can revoke.
